This print was created exclusively for Orelia, by Sashira of Sashira Art & Home. This Goldenrod print is part of a series to bring awareness to the various types of childhood cancers.  Goldenrod represents childhood cancer in general for the series. The awareness colour for childhood cancer is gold.  Goldenrod (known as Giiziso-Mashkikii, "sun medicine" in Ojibway) is found across so-called Canada, and has been used as medicine. The leaves and flowers of the plant is traditionally used in teas, and topically on the skin, amongst other methods of extracting the medicine.
 
This simplified image of a single goldenrod bloom is graphically eye-catching. Goldenrod grows many tiny bunches of blooms, but Sashira chose to zoom in on the details for this piece.  Fun on it's own, or grouped with Sashira’s Sarasparilla and Coneflower prints.
